Linda J. Cook

Professor of Political Science, Professor of Slavic Studies

Linda J. Cook received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1985. She is currently a professor in the political science department at Brown University, and associate of the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University. She has authored "The Soviet Social Contract and Why it Failed" (Harvard, 1993), "Postcommunist Welfare States: Reform Politics in Russia and Eastern Europe," (Cornell, 2007).  In 2015 Cook was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for research in the Russian Federation for her current book project, "Political Economies of Health Care in Russia's Fragmented Welfare State."

 


Joseph J. Cordes

Professor of Economics, Public Policy and Public Administration, and International Affairs; Associate Director, Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration

Professor Cordes received his Ph.D.in Economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1977. He has been on the faculty of The George Washington University since 1975. He was a Brookings Economic Policy Fellow in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy, US Treasury Department in 1980-81. From 1989-1991 he was Deputy Assistant Director for Tax Analysis at the Congressional Budget Office. Professor Cordes currently directs the University's Ph.D. Program in Public Policy, and is an Associate Scholar at the Urban Institute. Professor Cordes is a member of the National Tax Association, and the American Economic Association.




Jennifer E. Mosley, PhD

Associate Professor ofthe University of ChicagoSchool of Social Service Administration

Professor Mosley’s fields of special interest include the political involvement of nonprofit organizations, strategy and impact of nonprofit advocacy and lobbying, government-nonprofit relations, human service organizations, civic engagement in underrepresented communities, and social justice philanthropy. Her research focuses on the role of nonprofit organizations as political actors, specifically the role nonprofits and other voluntary associations play in advocating for improved human services and underrepresented populations. At SSA, she teaches courses on policy formulation and implementation, advocacy & social change, and organizational theory.




Costanzo Ranci Ortigosa

Full professor of Economic Sociology at the Polytechnic of Milan, Faculty of Architecture and Society.

Prof. Dr. Ranci is one of Italy’s internationally known experts on welfare policy. He is the scientific director of the Master program “Social planning. Design, management and evaluation of Social Policies”, promoted by Polytechnic of Milan, in cooperation with the Institute for Social Research. Since 2005 he is a member of the ASP Board, Alta Scuola Politecnica (Master of Science in Engineering and Architecture) founded by Polytechnic of Milano and Polytechnic of Torino. He has published numerous articles and books on social policy and the welfare state, the third sector and voluntary organizations, social exclusion and social risks, as well as social movements.



Prof.Yuanfang Zhang

Professor at the School of Public Administration at Zhongnan University of Economics & Law, Wuhan, China

She received her doctorate from Wuhan University in 2003. 
Dr. Zhang’s research focuses on nonprofit organizations and public-private-partnerships in public services. She is the author of several books, the most recent being: Study on Peter F. Ducker’s Management Thought (2007) and Social Entrepreneurship and NPO Management (2011). Papers and reports include: Public-Private Partnership: New Governance Paradigm of the City of Pittsburgh (2011); Report on Building the New Rural Community in Hubei Province China (2010).




Yulia Shapovalova

Over 12 year extensive professional experience as a Legal Expert in civil, commercial (business), corporate and public law, including seven year experience with government sector and five year experience with international donor organizations in legal and regulatory reforms aimed at improving business environment and investment climate in developing countries and transition economies. The main expertise includes business registration, licensing and permitting system, inspections, particularly in construction sphere, land acquisition, property rights, registering property and public administration, including performing functional reviews of administrative bodies and organizational restructuring of public authorities.
